Last weekend we explored downtown--saw some very historic places including the stop where Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus.
On Sunday it was rainy but we went to the zoo anyway. Seems like with so few visitors around the animals were actually interested in what we were doing and all came up close to check us out.

In fact, once this jaguar spotted Lena he could not take his eyes off of her. The staring was so intense that Cam felt obligated to yell at him and then they had quite the stare down.
We also made a quick stop to check out the mall. Nothing impressive beyond the carousel!

There are some nice parks around...

And lucky for us we are very close to a big park that houses the art museum and Shakespeare festival theater. There are nice walking paths throughout which is convenient because the only way Lena is taking a nap these days is in a stroller. I did capture this rate moment on a rainy day when she miraculously fell asleep in a bed! During the day!

Speaking of rain-- we are surviving these tornado watches and warnings but it is clearly amateur hour over here! At gymnastics yesterday I realized that maybe we need to take these things more seriously...although it can be hard to understand with such thick accents, I'm pretty sure everyone agreed we should be spending parts of our days in a bath tub with a mattress over our heads...
Oh well, today is beautiful and grandma Etta is here visiting!
